A Journey to Betty Sutherland Trail Park

Betty Sutherland Park

Another gem a little bit off the beaten track but quite easily accessible through the TTC service. This park is also located on a tributary of the Don River. The Ravines are a little tighter here giving it a distinct enclosed feeling. In many places the trees grow right upto the path and can give a shading effect as you walk through it kind of like going through a tunnel of green or red depending in which season you go.

Hi everyone had a spot of unseasonably good weather and decided to pay homage to this park. Got some great photos as the sun was out in full glory. Go on reading and don’t miss out on the views (hint they get better as you go further).

It can be easily accessed by the 25 bus running up Don Mills road. You can get down at the Graydon Hall Stoppage and walk West for a few minutes until you cross a small bridge which happens to offer you some nice views of the park .

Autumn colors are starting to show . This is a view from the bridge near the entrance to Betty Sutherland Park. There is another path right before the bridge on the north side of the road that you can use to explore the wooded area. Right past an old stone ruin.

The path that goes on from here will cross through some wooded areas with nature pressing hard on both sides to grow over it. The ruin is quite mysterious at first impression I thought it was a grave but later realised it was more like a cabin without its roof. Don’t really know what it is though.

If you continue down the path you eventually get to a place that hugs the creeksides and gives you nice view. The path continues further on and gets pretty wild almost disappearing in to the greenery. I decided not to go further leaving it for further exploration at a later time and went back to the formal entrance to the park.

The entrance to to park is on the northeastern side of the bridge. It was a little over grown but had a nice wild feel to it that kind of beckons you on.

You reach a kind of clearing from on the banks of the creek. Which has some nice shady trees. There is a good view of the creek if you don’t mind going through some undergrowth. Here are some images from this area for your enjoyment.
