The Cathedral Church of St James Toronto
If history is your thing and you often find yourself wandering the streets of Toronto in search of historical gems then go no further than downtown to The Cathedral Church of St. James. The parish is home to the oldest congregation in the city established in 1797. Construction of the cathedral began in 1850 and was completed and opened to services three years later. It became one of the largest buildings in Toronto at that time. A great example of Gothic Revival Architecture it was designed by the famed Frederick William Cumberland and is an Ontario Heritage Site.
We gave it a visit on a cold overcast day and were warmed by the nice interior with its stained glass windows and contemplative solitude. The Street cars running at the cross section kind of gave it a feel were modern life meets the historic. Enjoy the images below.
This my amazing Canada!!!
